Nice home in a nice setting for 4 people

Our group of 4 people (2 couples) stayed 4 nights at Four Stones Beach house. We enjoyed our stay on Vashon Island. Positives: The house is on the waterfront in a quiet neighborhood, close to the ferry. It has a large deck overlooking the water, facing west for gorgeous sunsets. The open floor plan downstairs works well for a group. We liked having a common bathroom downstairs, plus private ensuite bathrooms for each bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is reasonably well-equipped. The house was clean and seems well-taken care of. Sheets and towels were nice. Negatives: The home was advertised as having cable/satellite, but there was no connection. We were disappointed not to be able to watch the Wimbledon tennis tournament, the MLB All-Star game, and other shows while on vacation. And there is no DVD player. Check in time of 5:00 pm is later than any vacation rental or hotel we've stayed in. To avoid being inconvenienced in our travel plans, we requested early check-in. We were offered a 4:00 pm check-in time free of charge. Earlier check-in times were offered at $100 for 11:00 am and $50 for 1:00 pm. The toilet in the master bathroom developed a problem the second night of our stay. We called property management the next morning. They said there was no one available to fix it for 2 more days, which was the remainder of our stay. Having private bathrooms for each bedroom was important to us and was a factor in us choosing this particular rental home. So we went out and bought the replacement part and installed it ourselves. We informed property management of this. They reimbursed us $50 plus a $50 credit for future booking. There is a lack of furniture in the house. There are no nightstands, chairs, dressers, or lamps in the 2nd bedroom, which has twin beds. A dining set on the deck would be appreciated, as we would have enjoyed eating meals outdoors in the nice weather. Outlets are so worn that charging cords don't stay plugged in (2nd bedroom in particular). There is no railing on the part of the deck where the stairs lead down to the waterfront. It would be easy to take a bad fall there. There is no air conditioning in this home. Since all the rooms have west-facing floor-to-ceiling windows (including both bedrooms), the house could become uncomfortably warm in the late afternoon and evening in hot weather. This was not a problem during our stay in early July. – Betty, Sequim
